Selina Shanley MISCP
The clinic has been established by local Chartered Physiotherapist, Selina Shanley. Selina trained in the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and went on to work in the Scottish NHS where she worked in a broad spectrum of clinical specialities before specializing as a Senior Physiotherapist in Musculoskeletal Therapy. She also worked in a city centre Private Practice in Aberdeen and as a Pilates Instructor.
Throughout her clinical career, Selina had worked with International Rugby 7’s, Scottish Touch Rugby, Second Division Soccer Teams, Inter county and Club Gaelic Football teams, Highland and World Irish Dancers, Athletics and Triathlon clubs.
In addition to Sports Injuries, Selina has a specialist interest in Spinal pain management, Women’s Health and Acupuncture.
Selina is a fully accredited member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice, Chartered Society of Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine and the Association of Physiotherapists in Acupuncture.
Aisling graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with an honours BSc in Physiotherapy. She stayed in the UK and completed a variety of specialist rotations in the NHS, which included orthopaedic in-patients, elderly rehabilitation, ICU and surgical/respiratory and musculoskelatal outpatients. Since moving back to Ireland in 2011, she has been working in private practice, developing her skills in the musculoskeletal area. She has since had extensive experience with sports teams, which included team physio for the Roscommon minors in 2012, local Sligo, Roscommon and Leitrim senior club football teams and Carrick on Shannon Rugby. She also works part-time with HSE West, where she shares the role of Senior musculoskeletal out-patients and developmental paediatrics physio.
Aisling has a keen interest in manual therapy and is currently in the second year of a neuromusculoskeletal masters in UCD where she is specialising in joint mobilisation and manipulation. She has a specialist interest in myofascial work and has done further education/courses in trigger point release and dry needling. She is also trained in kinesio taping to treat swelling, muscle tightness and strains. Further specialist interests include paediatric development and injuries, biomechanical assessment and whiplash/headache treatment.
Aisling is a keen sports enthusiast and partakes in athletics, basketball and gaelic football at a competitive level.
